California caps the notarial fee at $15 per signature. A mobile notary also charges a travel fee based on distance and time of day. We quote the full amount before we leave, so there is nothing new at the table.
Yes. Hospital and correctional facility calls often come overnight, and refinances sometimes have to be signed before a rate lock expires. If we are already at a signing, we call back as soon as it wraps.
A current, government-issued photo ID with a signature and physical description — driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID. Expired IDs and photocopies do not qualify. If the signer has no ID, ask us about credible witnesses.
We do this often. The signer must be awake, aware of what they are signing, and able to communicate with us directly. We cannot notarize when staff or family answer on the signer’s behalf.
No. Notaries are not attorneys, and that advice would break California law. We can tell you which notarial act your document calls for and make sure it is executed correctly.
Same-day is normal for us. For loan signings, a day’s notice helps if the package needs printing. For hospital and jail visits, call as early as you can so we can check the facility’s rules.
